The Telegram Investment Mentor Scam Promising Daily Profits

This scam often begins with a warm, unrelated chat on a dating app, a wrong number message, or a social group. Over days or weeks, a friendly contact builds trust and eventually mentions an investment mentor or a guaranteed trading method delivering daily returns.

Victims are guided to a slick but fake platform or app. A small first deposit appears to grow quickly, and a small test withdrawal may even succeed to build confidence. Encouraged by the apparent profits, victims deposit larger sums, sometimes borrowing to do so.

When the victim tries to withdraw a large balance, the platform demands taxes, fees, or a minimum balance before release. These demands never end, and the money is already gone. The dashboard profits were never real.

Warning signs

  • A new online contact steers casual conversation toward investing or a mentor.
  • You are promised guaranteed or fixed daily returns with little or no risk.
  • You must use a specific app or link that is not a regulated local broker.
  • Withdrawing your balance suddenly requires extra fees or taxes.

How to protect yourself

  • Treat any guaranteed return as a red flag. Real investments carry risk.
  • Only invest through platforms regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
  • Check the MAS Investor Alert List before sending money to any platform.
  • Never let an online stranger guide your trades or installations.
  • Withdraw a meaningful amount early. Inability to withdraw is a clear warning.
